Parking Lot Safety Week
From Monday, October 27 to Friday, October 31, we will be conducting a Safety Campaign regarding school travel safety. Signage will be placed outside around the school.
The goal of the campaign for this week is to:
· Improve student drop-off and pick-up activity in the school zone.
· Remind ALL drivers to be more mindful when driving through school zones, and
· Raise awareness about sustainable modes of transportation to and from school which means we encourage more of you to walk and wheel and/or ride the bus to school.
After School Literacy Course
Starting the week of November 3, we are offering a twice weekly after school program to prepare grade 10s, and anyone who will be writing the OSSLT this fall, an opportunity to prepare with teacher support. Students are to sign up before October 31st and must attend each session. Classes will begin on Tuesday November 4th and run for 8 classes (7 classes run from 3:10-5:10 and the 8th class will be from 3:10-4:10) ending on November 24th, 2025. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Leatham, Vice Principal. Please see Ms. Nonni in the main office for permission forms.
EcoTeam Update
TLEA SS is committed to remaining an Ecoschool and a Sustainable Future School. EcoTeam Council led the way by presenting at the staff meeting in October and distributing Good on One Side (GOOS) paper to all teachers who requested it. Special thanks to the students for their enthusiasm and leadership. We also appreciate our parent partner Erika G. and students for helping with watering the Butterflyway pollinator garden during the summer. Students have transplanted the smaller plants in gardens at home for winter and the plan is to bring them back in the spring.
Happy World Sustainability Day on October 25!
