Fun Facts
- Thornlea Secondary School opened in 1968 and continues to be a thriving, well known academic institution. Thornlea has been used in the past as a case study for innovation in secondary schools by the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Education.
- Students can participate in a variety of Math, Science, and Computer Science contests including internationally recognized University of Waterloo Math and Computing contests (CEMC).
- Thornlea’s athletic teams have consistently advanced to OFSAA for basketball, volleyball, cross country, track & field, and ultimate frisbee.
- We are a York Region Healthy School and Platinum EcoSchool.
- We offer the DELF program for French Immersion, a STEM program and more.
