The ACAM program is only offered at Thornlea and it provides students with opportunities to develop strong skills in Visual & Performing Arts and Technology.

By enrolling in the ACAM program, students will:

• Develop skills required to work on their portfolio.
• Participate in workshops to complete their post-secondary portfolio (i.e. OCAD).
• Share their experience in ACAM courses in their post-secondary supplementary applications.

The AP program is an enrichment opportunity for students as they can develop the skills and knowledge in a specific subject. They will learn university level content while improving their writing skills, problem-solving skills and study habits.

By enrolling in AP courses, students:

• Can write an AP exam in May & if they earn a score of 4 or 5, universities can grant transfer credits (for up to 2 courses).
• Canadian and U.S. universities/colleges recognize AP transfer credits.
• Can share their experience in AP courses and/or exams in their post-secondary supplementary applications.

Students will continue to develop communication skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. They will also have opportunities to extend the language learning process beyond the classroom as full immersion in the French language will support them in improving language skills.

By continuing in the FI program, students will:

• Be working towards bilingualism that can support different career paths (i.e. translator/interpreter, government, education etc.).
• Can write the Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française (DELF) exam & upon successful completion, students are awarded an official diploma by the French Ministry of Education.

The SHSM program supports students focused on a career path that matches their skills and interests while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

By enrolling in the SHSM program in either grade 11 or 12, students:

• May complete sector recognized certifications to build their resume (upon graduation, students will receive a “Specialized High Skills Major Record” that lists all completed certifications).
• May participate in experiential learning opportunities to explore & refine their career goals.
• Can share their SHSM experiences in their post-secondary supplementary applications.

Students working toward a STEM Certification will maintain an academic focus in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics related courses.

Working towards the STEM certificate, students:

• can apply classroom learning in extracurricular activities
• can share their experience working towards the certificate in their post-secondary supplementary applications
• can share their experience working towards the certificate in their scholarship applications (i.e. Schulich Leader Scholarship)
