Academy of Creativity and Multimedia (ACAM)

The Academy of Creativity and Multimedia is a specialized program offered at Thornlea S.S.  The program provides opportunities for students to develop strong skills in Visual and Performing Arts and Technology with the purpose of discovering all that we can be when we combine them in new and exciting ways.

The ACAM Program offers students an opportunity to build skills in creativity, leadership, problem solving, art, drama and technology. By the end of the program, in Grade 12, students will have built a personal portfolio and/or start up company in their areas of interest such as film, animation, fine art, graphic design, illustration, theater design, acting and directing, as some examples. Students are supported by staff to pursue their interests, improve their skills, and meet peers with similar interests.

Who is it for?

  • ACAM is designed to be flexible so students can also take French Immersion and Advanced Placement courses if they choose. (ACAM Courses are also offered in French)
  • Experience with Visual and Performing Arts and Technology is useful but not required.
  • The program is designed for students who have a distinct openness and interest in being creative with the Arts and technology.

Application Information

To be considered for early admission into the program, please submit your completed application no later than December 13 by 4 p.m. online or to Thornlea's main office. Students will be notified of their early acceptance in December before the winter holidays. All other applicants will be put on a waiting list and notified by late January if there are spaces available in the program.

We do accept applications on an ongoing basis after January but space is very limited, so it's best to apply early. Once accepted into the program, register to guarantee your spot.

Early acceptances into the program and wait list letters are sent out in December before the winter holidays. There are a limited number of spots in the program so we recommend applying early. After early acceptances, if there are spots still available, we accept applications on an ongoing basis.

The ACAM Program is free and there is no cost to apply.
