We are pleased to share that Dr. Tharsini Manivannan, our Subject Head of Science, has been awarded a Regional Certificate of Achievement for the 2026 Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence in STEM. This award celebrates her commitment to preparing Thornlea students for future learning and careers in STEM by encouraging them to ask questions, test hypotheses, and drive their own discoveries. This is a very prestigious and tremendous accomplishment, and we are proud that Dr. Manivannan represents our school. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Manivannan on her achievement!

Attendance Reminders
If your child will be absent for the day, you can email us at thornleass.attendance@yrdsb.ca.
If an absence is reported to you that you believe is an error, please contact the teacher directly (firstname.lastname@yrdsb.ca).
Please contact the office directly if your child needs to miss a period or part of the school day to attend an appointment (e.g. medical or dental). When a student is “signed out” from the main office, it is understood that they are leaving school property to attend an appointment as per the parent’s direct instructions. Parents/guardians may NOT sign a student out of a period to prepare for a test/task in another period. Students enrolled in classes must be in those classes for the full day in order to ensure supervision. Grade 12 students may attend the library for quiet study during their spare period.
