STEM Certificate Requirements

Courses

1. Minimum of any 4 courses in Science - all pathways
2. Minimum of 4 courses in Math (one course must be Grade 12) - all pathways
3. Minimum of any 3 courses in Technology and / or Computer Studies - all pathways

Clubs and Contests

Minimum of 3 of the following per school year:

1. Active membership in at least one STEM related club (examples: Robotics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Doctors of Tomorrow, Biology, Hackers, STEM Initiative Council, EcoTEAM, PC Builders, AV Club, Peer Tutoring in STEM subjects)
2. Completion of at least one contest or competition (examples: AP exams, U of T Biology Contest, University of Waterloo Math, Science, Computer Contests / Exams / Competitions / Challenges, Skills Competitions, Hackathon, Real World Design Challenge)

Community Engagement

1. STEM workshop for an elementary school
2. Science demonstration at Grade 8 Curriculum Night
3. STEM booth at a community fair or library
4. Volunteer hours completed for an approved non-profit STEM related event or organization
5. Guest lecture by a STEM professional
6. Specialized STEM skills training opportunity
7. University-hosted STEM conference
8. STEM Summer Camp or Enrichment
